Heaven never comes when it is needed. Or at least some people will say that, those who have seen the true face of this world.
Akuma. Beings capable of mass-murder. They exist for one cause and one cause alone... To kill as many humans as they can so they may evolve and continue along their destructive path. To evolve so that one day when it goes up against an exorcist it will come out alive and please its master, The Millennium Earl. The Earl is rising in power, ready to eliminate his only threats, the exorcists and their holy Innocence. The Noah are reawakening, their numbers being rebuilt. Their true identities remain unknown.
The Order is in panic as their numbers begin to dwindle. The Holy War has reached a stalemate, but the Order can only hold out for so long. Each side is losing countless soldiers, but the Church must rebuild before the Earl can act. Families are in ruin. Towns are destroyed. And, if the church would allow it, everyone would be running around claiming it was the end of the world. If something is not done soon, the Earl will claim victory and the world will fall to his power.
There are rumors floating about. Tales of akuma who break free from the Earl and create their own servants are appearing, known as Level 10 beings. Several have denied the existence of these beings, but others claim that this third power is all too real. Whatever the case, one must wonder what will occur next.
Who will reach the top first? Will the Earl destroy the Heart? Can the Black Order rebuild and claim victory? And what of these new akuma? Some say Heaven never comes when it is needed most. And it seems as if they are right.
